Great news from the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. It is launching a major new grant scheme to support Australian researchers. The grants available include:
'- Young Investigator Grants of up to $100,000pa for up to four years to support scientists who have demonstrated research ability and who are now ready to become independent investigators.
- Concept Grants of up to $150,000pa for up to two years to support senior investigators not currently studying prostate cancer but who can bring innovative research proposals or new technology to the field.
- Project Grants of up to $100,000pa for up to three years to encourage rigorous proposals for research that will provide direct, tangible benefits to patients with prostate cancer in a relatively short time frame.
- Equipment Grants of up to $100,000 to be allocated to investigators currently working in the prostate cancer field. Preference will be given to proposals attracting matching funding.'his is fantastic news for all men and gives hope and inspiration to all the researchers.

Famous 'Chimney Rock' Eroding

For example, many view familiar rock features as being stable and unchanging - even 'permanent' in the sense of human timeframes. So evidence to the contrary e.g. the recent collapse of one of Australia's 'Twelve Apostles' surprises many.
Nebraska's Chimney Rock is a long-familiar 'icon' used to adorn decorative spoons, license plates, and now that State's commemorative 25-cent coin. But to the surprise of many it's eroding away. According to the Nebraska State Historical Society the Chimney Rock 'spire', currently about 36 metres (120 ft) high, has lost about nine metres (30 ft) in the past 150 years - more evidence that millions of years are not necessary.'
The essential saccharides (glyconutrients) were actually discovered by a doctor over a hundred years ago. Babies at Risk-Toxic Chemical
There seems to be a problem with our cooking utensils. A few of years ago we heard rumblings about non-stick cookware (frying pays etc.) giving us cancer. Last year I ventured to buy new cookware. After going to a reputable store and asking about the chemicals in the non-stick pans I was told by an indignant sales person that all their cookware was of the best quality and that I would have no problems.
Well, here again reading in the Sun Herald 9th September "Babies at risk from Non-stick chemical" by Daniel Dasey.
The ANTI-TOXIC chemical campaigners are on the war path with good reason. They are calling for non-stick frying pans to be taken off the market because a study has found that a chemical used in their manufacture is harmful to humans.
'US researchers analysed blood in the umbilical cords of newborn babies and found those with increased levels of the chemical were likely to be smaller with reduced head sizes.'
'Dr Mariann Lloyd-Smith, of the National Toxic Networks Australia, said the study was the latest showing a link between ill-health and the chemical perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), used in non-stick frying pans and barbecues.' Just as well I stuck with the stainless steel variety of pans.
The future is still unsure for non-stick frying pans however we can be sure that the future of Glyconutrients and Mannatech Inc. will continue with cutting-edge scientists providing information on nutritional saccharides- glyconutrients- that form the scientific underpinnings for Mannatech's U.S. products. A 1999 (EPA and German) study of pharmaceutical and other personal-care products concluded the "undetectable effects on aquatic organisms are particularly worrisome because effects could accumulate so slowly that major change goes undetected until the cumulative level of these effects finally cascades to irreversible change - change that would otherwise be attributed to natural adaptation or ecologic succession."
Meanwhile, federal officials continue to study the human health effects of the pharmaceutical compounds found in water known as endocrine disruptors, including possible links to neurological problems in children and increased incidence of some cancers. Federal officials are investigating a wide range of fish health problems in Chesapeake Bay and its watershed. Several studies of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers have revealed inter-sex fish, a wide range of "abnormalities in which both male and female characteristics are present within the same fish."
The abnormalities include nine male smallmouth bass from the Potomac River near Sharpsburg, Maryland (about 60 miles upstream from Washington) that developed female eggs inside their sex organs. Inter-sex bass were also found in a study three years earlier, after fish kills about 170 miles upstream in the South Branch of the Potomac in Hardy County, West Virginia......'
This disaster comes on the back of information that even the Arctic and Antartic Poles are not exempt for pollution. We as humans can do our little bit for the environment and also ourselves by taking glyconutrients - saccharides - produced by Sam Caster and Mannatech Inc. giving optimal health and wellness through their glyconutrient supplements.
